What to Expect at Your First Visit

Welcome to Loudoun Ideal Chiropractic

Your first visit is much more than an adjustment.

It is an opportunity for us to understand your story, evaluate your spine and nervous system, and determine the underlying causes that may be keeping you from feeling your best.

Whether you’re struggling with pain, searching for answers after seeing multiple specialists, or simply wanting to stay healthy and active for years to come, our goal is to understand where you are today—and where you want to be.

Step 1:

New Patient Forms & Consultation

Before meeting with Dr. Miok, you’ll complete a detailed health history and new patient intake forms.

Then comes one of the most important parts of your visit—your consultation.

Dr. Miok often refers to this as “Listening to Your Spine’s Story.”

Every spine has a story.

Some patients come to us because of:

  • Neck pain
  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Headaches
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Shoulder or joint pain

Others arrive feeling exhausted, lacking energy, or frustrated after visiting multiple specialists without finding lasting answers. They may be looking for a more natural, holistic approach that addresses the body as a whole rather than relying on additional medications.

And many patients aren’t in significant pain at all. Their goal is prevention. They want to stay healthy, continue travelling, enjoy hiking, golf, gardening, playing with grandchildren, or simply

remain independent as they grow older without worrying about losing mobility or relying on others.

Whatever brings you here, Dr. Miok wants to understand more than just your symptoms.

She wants to understand:

  • Why did you decide today was the day to seek help?
  • What your spine has experienced throughout your life.
  • What you’ve already tried.
  • What has or hasn’t worked.
  • Most importantly, what you’re hoping to get back to doing.

This conversation allows us to understand not only your symptoms, but also your goals, lifestyle, and the life you want to continue living.

Step 2:

Comprehensive Spinal & Nervous System Evaluation

After your consultation, Dr. Miok performs a thorough examination to better understand how your spine and nervous system are functioning.

Depending on your condition, your evaluation may include:

  • Postural analysis
  • Spinal range of motion assessment
  • Orthopedic examination
  • Neurological examination
  • Muscle strength and reflex testing
  • Functional movement evaluation
  • Balance and coordination assessment
  • Digital X-rays when clinically necessary

Rather than simply focusing on where it hurts, we evaluate your entire spine to identify structural imbalances, movement patterns, biomechanical stress, spinal alignment, and any long-term changes that may be affecting your nervous system and overall health.

Our goal is to discover the underlying cause—not simply treat the symptoms.

Step 3:

Comfort Care (When Appropriate)

If you’re experiencing significant discomfort, Dr. Miok may provide gentle treatment during your first visit to help reduce pain and improve comfort.

Because every patient is different, the type of care provided depends on your examination findings and whether treatment is appropriate that day.

Our priority is always your safety while helping you begin feeling better as soon as possible.

After the treatment, if needed, you will be guided through the front desk to get an appointment for the second visit. It’s called ROF (report of findings)
